What about cash deposits?

Every Iowa retail sportsbook accepts cash at the counter. You can also fund some mobile accounts via cash at the partner casino cage (the "PayNearMe" or in-person funding option). See our retail sportsbooks directory for the 19 casino locations.

What's banned in Iowa?

  • Credit cards. Iowa sportsbooks do not accept credit card deposits. This is a regulatory choice to discourage borrowing-to-bet.
  • Cryptocurrency. Bitcoin and other crypto are not supported at any IRGC-licensed operator. Avoid offshore sites that promote crypto deposits; they are not licensed and offer no consumer protection.
  • Wire transfers. Not generally offered for consumer accounts; large transfers are handled via ACH instead.

Why your deposit may be declined

If a debit card or ACH deposit fails at an Iowa sportsbook, the most common cause is that your bank or card issuer blocks gambling-coded transactions (MCC 7995). Chase, US Bank and some regional Iowa banks block by default. Solutions:

  • Switch to Play+; the sportsbook-issued prepaid card bypasses bank-level blocks.
  • Use PayPal if your sportsbook supports it.
  • Call your bank and request gambling transactions be approved.
  • Switch banks if your primary bank consistently blocks.
